Default Samsung LE37M87BD LCD TV - weird colours.

Been asked to take a look at this TV today as they are on the verge of buying a new one after turning off one night and switching it back on to this in the morning...

I am going to strip it tomorrow to make sure it has not loose connections, but I'm thinking it's going to be the main board needs replacing (expensive?)

    What do you guys think...

    EDIT
I've been into the Service Menu and factory reset it, makes no difference, but turning Dynamic 'everything' off makes a slight improvement.

yep probably the board that drives the lcd, t-con board. hard to find - quite often reflowing the large bga chips (a la 360!) can sort them

    Thanks to braymond

I'm guessing 'T-Con' Board is something that's manufacturer specific. (Sony perhaps?)

I've taken this TV apart and found something called the 'VO Control Board' (Video Output), but the chip on it does not look big enough to be a BGA, turns out it's an IC.

There is no harm IMO on reflowing this board, seeing as the name seems to indicate it would be the culprit.

    --EDIT--
Reflowed the 'VO Board' but does not seem to make any difference - which could the IC on the board has gone. Nothing obvious on the board has blown so may just consider replacing it (if I can find one!).

Would that be the board that's gone? It's the board at the top of the screen (where the T-Con board usually lives!)

Sony and sammy use same panels and both use the same t-con boards In all the sets I have seen.definitely reflow that board you have nothing to lose . I presume it's fpga type package?

Ah see u have done that - trouble is the boards are like rocking horse shit to find . Yes Sounds like the board does the same thing- does it have two high density ribbon cables that disappear off into the panel?

    Thanks to braymond

Ha. A recent thread bought me back to this.
I didnt realise I never came back with the results.

That board fixed it and the TV is still going strong today (over a year on).

    Thanks braymond!
